Hello NY Fashion Week, Here we Are!!!

The New York Fashion Week has already begun and as I know, my dear young ladies are anxious to know who is "cooking" there. Don´t worry at all because I am an expert to know everything without needing to be there.

Seeing the wonderful collections - especially for novice designers- I can´t ignore to collect them in the blog, here we start with the best of each.

"The First Lady´s Desinger"

Wu launched his ready-to-wear line of clothes with earnings from his years of doll designs. His first full collection debuted in 2006 and won the Fashion Group International's Rising Star award in 2008.In 2008 he was nominated for the Vogue Fashion Fund award. Bruce Weber shot the designer for W magazine's "Summer Camp" portfolio last July.

Wu's early clients included Ivana Trump, January Jones, and Amber Valletta. He also worked extensively with drag queen RuPaul, ultimately designing six RuPaul dolls.

Michelle Obama was introduced to Wu by André Leon Talley, Vogue Magazine's editor-at-large, who had been advising the future First Family on their appearance. She bought four dresses from Wu early in the year, wearing one of them for a segment on Barbara Walters Special shortly before the November 2008 election, prompting many in the media to consider her his "career-launcher". She wore another, a custom-designed one-shoulder, floor-length white chiffon gown, at the inaugural balls on the night of President Barack Obama's inauguration. Appearing on the cover of Vogue, Obama once again wore a Wu design, a magenta silk dress. Upon her arrival in London during the First Lady and President Barack Obama's first official European trip, Obama wore a chartreuse silk sheath dress designed by Wu; the next day she wore a Wu coat during her visit with the Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom On April 2, Obama paired a "traditional looking" teal Wu dress with a blue-patterned cardigan designed by Junya Watanabe to her visit to the Royal Opera House.

From Russia with Love: An Story of a Great Duchess

Best known as Natalie Paley, she was born Countess Natalia Pavlovna von Hohenfelsen in Paris, France. Her father was Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich of Russia, and her mother was his morganatic wife, Olga Karnovich, who had been granted a Bavarian title, Countess von Hohenfelsen. Her mother was later created Her Serene Highness Princess Paley by her nephew-in-law, Nicholas II, and the children of the marriage took the name Paley.

Princess Natalia Pavlovna Paley (Наталья Павловна Палей) (December 5, 1905 – December 27, 1981) was a French-born fashion icon, socialite, and film actress who was a first cousin of the last Russian emperor, Nicholas II.

She had two half-siblings from her father's previous marriage to Alexandra of Greece: Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich of Russia, who was one of the murderers of Rasputin; and Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna, who married Prince Vilhelm of Sweden at age sixteen. She had two full siblings, Vladimir Pavlovich Hohenfelsen, Count Hohenfelsen (9 Jan 1897 - 17 Jul 1918) and Irina Pavlovna Romanovskya-Paleya, Princess Paleya (21 Dec 1903 - 15 Nov 1990). She also had a half-sister by her mother's first marriage, Marianne von Pistohlkors (b. 30 Jun 1890).

Paley escaped from Russia in 1920; her father and her brother Vladimir Paley were murdered by the Bolsheviks. With her mother and her sister, Irina Pavlovna, she went via Finland to exile in France.

In 1927 Natalie Paley became the second wife of Lucien-Camille Lelong, the French fashion designer and war hero; they were divorced in 1937. After working for a while as a fashion model for her husband's enterprises, and appearing frequently in Vogue, she became a movie actress and took parts in several European movies, including Sir Alexander Korda's The Private Life of Don Juan (1934) and Marcel L'Herbier's L'epervier (1933). She eventually moved to the United States, and acted in George Cukor's Sylvia Scarlett (1935), where she began a close friendship with the film's main star, Katharine Hepburn, which would last through her life.

She had a brief affair with the writer Jean Cocteau, which resulted in an aborted pregnancy.

After charming spectators with her beauty, and experiencing a brief success, she quit acting, married in 1937 the theatre producer John Chapman Wilson (1899-1967), who was a former lover of Cole Porter, and settled with him in Manhattan. There, for many years, she worked in public relations for the fashion designer Mainbocher.

She died in New York City and is buried in the churchyard of the First Presbyterian Church in Ewing, New Jersey.
